Today I am happy to announce that version 4.2 of PsfTooling is now available from the Microsoft Store. A free tool, it is used in conjunction with the Microsoft MSIX Packaging tool to add and configure the Package Support Framework (PSF) during the repackaging process.
For those unaware, PSF stands for Package Support Framework, an open source utility that I contribute to for helping traditional Win32 and DotNet applications run inside the MSIX packaging container.
The changes in this new version include:
- Includes prebuild PSF components from the latest changes to Microsoft “Develop” branch of the PSF on GitHub as of August 27, 2020. For description of these recent PSF changes, see this previous blog https://www.tmurgent.com/TmBlog/?p=3174
- Added support for new EnvVarFixup to solve issues with certain apps that create and depend upon environment variables.
- Fixes issue with scanning protected folders when searching for app components. The issue had been causing the tool to crash.
The tool is available free from the Microsoft Store.
