HyperV_Mon 1.7 Released

I added an updated version, Version 1.7, of HyperV_Mon today.

A screen shot from HyperV_Mon Version 1.7

HyperV_Mon is a free monitoring tool for use with Microsoft Hyper-V. It provides a graphical display of the main performance indexes for both the VMs and the physical host. This includes CPU, Memory, Paging, as well as File and Network I/O traffic.

More importantly, it displays CPU “virtualization overhead” that we can detect from low level counters in the hypervisor.

The program has no installer, it just needs DotNet 3.5 and you configure it with the name of your Hyper-V host.

Version 1.5 adds a few new counters, plus it now better handles situations where WMI access into a VM is not available. This happens for a while when VMs are comming up or down, Remote WMI was not available in the VM, or a firewall prevents this access. Previously this might stall the user interface, but now it is handled more gracefully.

Download the tool in a ZIP file containing a PDF documentation in the Tools Section of the Main Website.
