Microsoft releases this dependency as a framework package that includes the major/minor version as part of the package name. The Microsoft MSIX Packaging Tool routinely adds version 1.4 as a dependenncy. The new option allows three settings: Do nothing (the default), Replace with the latest version, and Remove if unneeded. In most cases it is unneeded as adding the PSF removes the shortcut entry that caused the need for the dependency.

Feature: Added a configuration option to make UpdateInUse (deferred) fixup as an automatic recommended fixup or an optional one. Previously it was optional and the default is optional. This entry in the AppXManifest means that if a deployment tool tries to upgrade the package, and the package is in use, defer the upgrade until the package is no longer in use.

Change: Although we detect uiAccess in app manifest files and add the appropriate entries into the AppXManifest file, Microsoft has not enabled this feature in the OS and, at this point, seems unlikely to ever do so. This change adds this information into the “Unfixable and Informational” list instead.

Fix: Fix for manual editing of the AppXManifest when WIn32Dependencies is present.

Fix: Fix for manual editing of the AppXManifest when Com5:InProcessServer is present.

Fix: If detecting a firewall rule in the app, but we cannot add this type of rule due to AppXManifest schema limitations, make sure the fix button is disabled.

Where to get the release

The latest version of TMEditX Editor is found at the following link. TMEditX has a fully functional trial mode that can be used to verify just how good it is. TMEditX Download

TMEditX is the licensed and so much more capable tool for fixing up MSIX packages; better than PsfTooling since it doesn’t have to depend on the Microsoft MSIX Packaging Tool to create the final package. [Download_page]

TMEditX Tools is the free tools for packagers wanting to quickly test and debug their MSIX packages. It contains two apps. MSIXDeploy is used to install, uninstall, and debug MSIX and AppAttach packages from your file share without the need of a server. ParsePsfDebugLog is a tool for organizing and formatting the debug log output produced when you use the PSF.

TMEditX Tools Release Notes

No significant changes.

Where to get the release

TMEditX Tools is free, and the latest release may be found at TMEditX Tools Download

Version 7.4 is now available for TMEditX Editor and TMEditX Tools.
