Note: While we were looking at moving the class, we have now committed to keeping it at the Buckminster.
Course held at the Hotel Buckminster, near Fenway Park in Boston Massachusetts 645 Beacon St, Boston
The recommended hotels include the Buckminster, but there are a lot of hotels in the area. The rooms at this hotel, vary significantly depending on the week (Red Sox and Boston University events affect pricing and availability). Plus, they have many different room rates depending on room size and location for any given date. See hotel information below for quoted rates when you mention this event. The Hotel Buckminster offers a student discount for the class as long as you book through them directlyand not a travel website, and you mention the group name.
You will have no need for a car as this is readily available to public transportation and walking distance to many Boston attractions. Our previous attendees found the hotel to be very convenient to all attractions but students are not required to stay there so feel free to stay at another hotel if preferred.
The unique style of training used accommodates both novices to App-V and those that have had substantial experience. We cover all of the basics and provide time for students to challenge more difficult applications they bring with them, with expert guidance available when needed.
As part of the class you will receive the three GridMasterTraining Companion Guides.
Over 300 pages of what some call "the missing App-V books".
Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) 5.1/2
Concepts, Administration, & Sequencing
July 10-13, 2017
Boston, MA, USA
[Class is confirmed in Boston]
TMurgent is bringing is bringing his world renowned App-V training back to our home turf in Boston. This class is widely considered to be the ultimate place to learn about App-V.
The GridMasterTraining Masters Level Administration and Advanced Sequencing classes will be run by TMurgent. This 4-day class will provide you with both theory and practical hands-on experience in our training lab. This class is both for those who are new to App-V and those with prior experience already.
Note: The class is a full 4-days so please plan to attent through 5pm on the final day!
The course is designed for people with a general background in IT and/or Packaging. We take students with or without prior experience in App-V. There are no hard pre-requisites to be able to take the class, however, the following are helpful:
You MUST bring your own Noteboook with wired/wireless internet to access labs. You are welcome to sequence on your own VMs (on your laptop or back in your office via VPN), but we do provide all of the VMs you need.
$2750.00 per participant, payable in advance by any major credit card (through PayPal), or by check or Purchase Order.
This class is based on Microsoft Application Virtualization version 5.1/5.2. If your company is currently using an App-V release prior to 5.1, accommodations can be made to cover differences between versions and to allow you to use an earlier version in the labs with advanced notice. Additional information about our public training classes, including feedback from a number of students may be found at this link.
RedSox/Fenway Park Info: Obviously the season will be long over by these dates. So no long lines in restaurants and better hotel rates for you!
Available Hotels: We normally recommend the Buckminster for price/location when we hold the class in the Hotel. They have given us a rate of $159 if you call the hotel directly to book and mention that you are there for the TMurgent/Gridmaster training class. There are plenty of other hotels in the area; nicer onces cost much more...
The Buckminster Hotel is an updated version of a "classic" Boston hotel with variable room rates that vary widely depending on the nearby Red Sox and University schedules. While it isn't what you expect to find in your typical major brand hotel, we do ask the class about their stay and unanimously they preferred staying at the hotel for the great location in spite of a few inconveniences. Whether you stay here or elsewhere is up to you! (Mary Jane can help you with other choices).
The hotel is near Fenway Park (where the Red Sox baseball team plays) and Kenmore Square. Kenmore Square marks the start of Boston University which intermingles with the city, and is a convenient stop on the "T" (which is the subway in Boston).
Buckminster rates vary significantly. We do have a student discount for you as part of the class, but to get the discount you must book the hotel directly and not through a travel agent or travel website (and you must mention you are with the group "TMurgent Technologies"). There are also 16 different room styles and costs. You are welcome to shop around and stay elsewhere, but this is a pretty good deal for Boston at a great location.
If you fly into town, Boston Logan is the most convenient airport for you. (Providence RI is reachable with train also). You really won't want a car as public transportation is the way to go.
The training will take place at the hotel, but you are free to choose from any of the many hotels in the City.
